Job Description: Construction Manager / Construction Supervisor

Position Summary
The Construction Manager/Supervisor oversees all day-to-day field operations related to fiber-optic installation, underground utility work, and outside plant (OSP) construction across North Carolina, with occasional travel to Virginia and Tennessee.
This role ensures all projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with company standards, client specifications, and state/local regulations.
The CM/Supervisor reviews vendor-provided maps, validates footage and routing, inspects field conditions for accuracy, and performs quality control to ensure work is completed as designed. The ideal candidate is proactive and solution-oriented, ensuring all operational commitments are met or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Field Management
- Oversee daily construction activities for aerial and underground fiber-optic installation.
- Conduct daily site visits across North Carolina to monitor progress, safety, and compliance.
- Ensure proper installation of conduit, handholes, and site restoration.
- Assist with traffic control needs in the field when required (not responsible for scheduling).
- Pull permitting-related information from IQGEO and support QC and permit-closure activities.
- Support locate processes and ensure adherence to proper field procedures.
Map Review & Verification
- Review vendor-submitted maps, construction prints, as-builts, and engineering drawings.
- Verify total footage, splice points, routing, and material usage.
- Compare maps to actual field conditions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Identify discrepancies and communicate corrections to vendors.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Perform QC inspections to confirm workmanship meets company and client standards and is built as designed.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with OSHA, DOT, and State/local regulations.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including photos, redlines, and progress reports.
Vendor Coordination
- Support subcontractors based on project priorities.
- Provide coaching and guidance to vendors as needed to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Communicate clearly with vendors regarding expectations, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
Project Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records, production logs, and daily/weekly reporting.
- Notify leadership of delays, hazards, or changes that impact schedule or cost.
- Support project planning and scheduling across North Carolina.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in fiber-optic construction, OSP, telecommunications, or underground utility construction.
- Strong knowledge of underground construction methods (trenching, HDD drilling, conduit installation, etc.).
- Experience reading maps, engineering prints, and as-built drawings.
- Familiarity with North Carolina municipality requirements, permitting, and utility standards is a plus.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to oversee crews and subcontractors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; Excel proficiency required.
- Experience with SmartSheet is a plus, but not required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel daily to job sites across North Carolina.
- Experience using IQGEO is a strong plus, but not required.
- Ability to speak Spanish preferred, but not required.
Pay: $69, $83,409.27 per year
