Essential Job Responsibilities
- Facilitates the annual budget process in collaboration with leadership team and WVU Medicine’s corporate FP&A department.
- Leads and manages complex financial projects in collaboration with appropriate leadership.
- Leads the establishment of robust financial processes and protocol for operations including analyzing new opportunities, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting financial results.
- Oversee the capital budgeting process for operations with leaders in accordance with WVU Medicine capital budget procedures and policies.
- Oversee ongoing actual-to-budget performance improvement and margin enhancement opportunities and communicate to Finance and operational leadership.
- Direct and evaluate financial processes to maximize efficiency in daily operations.
- Coordinates the completion of financial analysis related to and in support of new services, provider and staffing needs, and long-term strategic initiatives.
- Oversee the work and development of the relevant financial analyst team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in related field and five (5) years of finance experience.
- Indirect or direct supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of functional area.
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
- Requires demonstrated understanding and experience with a health system financial reporting, budgeting, financial planning, and other healthcare reporting techniques.
- Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Master’s degree in finance preferred.
- Experience in Healthcare setting.
License, Certification & Clearances
- CPA preferred.
- Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
- Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
