Excel Treatment Center is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and motivated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping individuals recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
As a Behavioral Health Technician, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive treatment environment while working alongside counselors, nurses, providers, and operations staff to help clients succeed in treatment.
What You'll Do
- Monitor client safety and maintain awareness of client whereabouts.
- Observe, document, and report client behaviors in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist with intakes, orientations, and discharge procedures.
- Collect urine drug screens in accordance with company policy.
- Encourage participation in groups and treatment activities.
- Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to clients throughout the day.
- Conduct client outreach to promote attendance and engagement in treatment.
- Complete environmental rounds and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Assist with transportation using company vehicles when needed.
- Respond appropriately to medical and behavioral emergencies.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Work collaboratively with the clinical, medical, and operations teams.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year of behavioral health, healthcare, or human services experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and work effectively as part of a team.
- Knowledge of recovery principles and trauma-informed care is a plus.
