Dock and Door Service Technician / Installer

Position Summary

Job Description – Excel Services

Excel Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Dock and Door Service Technician / Installer to support commercial and industrial clients with the installation, service, maintenance, and repair of dock equipment, overhead doors, loading dock systems, and related mechanical components. This role requires strong troubleshooting ability, attention to safety, professionalism with customers, and the ability to work independently or with a team in fast-paced environments.

Essential Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain:
• Overhead doors
• Dock levelers
• Dock seals and shelters
• Rolling steel
• High-speed doors
• Gate systems
• Warehouse equipment
• Mechanical and electrical dock systems
• Vehicle restraints
• Diagnose equipment failures and perform troubleshooting in the field
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions
• Operate lifts, ladders, power tools, welders, and hand tools safely
• Complete preventive maintenance and inspections
• Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, dispatch, and field leadership
• Document service work, materials used, and job progress accurately
• Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment
• Follow OSHA regulations and all Excel Services safety policies
• Participate in training and continued skill development
• Support emergency service calls and after-hours work when needed
  

Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• Experience in:
• Dock leveler systems, commercial overhead doors, including sectional doors, high-speed doors, and rolling steel doors
• Industrial maintenance
• Mechanical or electrical service
• Welding and fabrication
• Construction or service environments
• Service on vehicle gates and trailer restraints
• Safety products including Guard rails, Handrails, Rack Protection, Dock Gates, Track Protectors, Building Column Protectors, Bollards
  

Skills & Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems
• Capable of lifting 50 lbs and working at elevated heights
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Basic computer or mobile app usage for work orders and reporting
  
  

Preferred Certifications

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
• Welding certifications
• Troubleshooting experience
• Interpreting schematics
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to safely operate ladders, lifts, and power equipment
