EXCEL Group is seeking an experienced and skilled Boilermaker for one of our Maintenance job sites in Plaquemine, LA. As a Boilermaker, you will play a key role in fabricating, assembling, and maintaining key piping systems, and other metal structures for our industrial projects.
Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and assemble metal components to construct and industrial piping systems.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to plan and execute projects.
- Identify materials and layout job from prints; basic layout on trays; install valves, traps and strainers; introduction to piping systems; some pipefitting abilities; manually cut pipe; and basic rigging.
- Utilize cutting tools to create and assemble parts with precision.
- Perform inspections and tests to ensure the quality and integrity of the constructed systems.
- Collaborate closely with other tradespeople and team members to meet project deadlines.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on boilers and associated equipment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Boilermaker in industrial construction, maintenance, or turnaround environments.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications with a high degree of accuracy.
- Working knowledge of applicable construction codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Experience with tower and column maintenance, including tray repair and replacement.
- Knowledge of heat exchanger maintenance, including bundle pulling procedures.
- Experience repairing and replacing boiler tubes and related components.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in industrial environments.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50–100 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, tanks, vessels, and crawl spaces.
- Must be able to climb ladders, scaffolds, ascend and descend stairs, and work safely at elevated heights.
- Ability to work in awkward positions, including kneeling, crouching, stooping, bending, and crawling for extended periods.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods during a work shift.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators.
- Ability to work overhead and perform repetitive motions involving arms, shoulders, and hands.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, hearing protection, fall-protection harnesses, and steel-toed boots.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, rain, and dusty environments.
- Ability to tolerate exposure to noise, vibration, fumes, and industrial work environments.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Willingness and ability to assist other crafts and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Current safety certifications, such as OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, are preferred.
- Must be able to pass a security passport background check.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment testing.
Pay rate for this position is determined by NCCER Level.
