Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Owner-operator with a box truck to join our logistics team. This role involves managing your own vehicle to deliver freight efficiently and safely across designated routes. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, familiarity with various truck types, and the ability to handle freight loadings and unloadings. This position offers the opportunity for independent operation while contributing to our company's delivery network.
Duties
- Operate a box truck and other commercial vehicles
- Load and unload freight accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols
- Plan and execute delivery routes, adhering to schedules and route driving best practices
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations
- Manage freight documentation, including delivery logs, manifests, and other necessary paperwork
- Maintain communication with dispatch for updates on routes or delivery changes
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation laws and safety standards
- Handle minor vehicle maintenance or coordinate repairs as necessary
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle type operated
- Experience with truck driving, including route driving and freight delivery
- Proficiency in operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred
- Experience with other types of trucks is a plus
- Strong knowledge of load & unload procedures and freight handling best practices
- Ability to operate various truck types such as tractor-trailers or specialized equipment like refrigerated or flatbed trucks
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and compliance
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage independent work schedules effectively
- Physical ability to load/unload freight and perform vehicle inspections as needed
