Government Accountant (Municipal Experience Required)

Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

$30.00–$40.00 per hour DOE

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Assist with budget preparation, monitoring, and forecasting
• Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries
• Support audits and ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards
• Prepare financial statements and budget-related reports
• Monitor revenues and expenditures for budget compliance
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3 years of accounting experience
• Prior municipal, government, or public sector accounting experience required
• Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience with budgeting, audits, and financial analysis
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with accounting software
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills

Preferred

• Experience working for a city, municipality, or government agency
• Knowledge of GASB standards
• CPA designation a plus
