Job Overview
Exact Machine Service is seeking a skilled and reliable Machinist to support our Machine Shop Manager in the production and repair of precision parts. This role involves working with a variety of machines, tools, and manual equipment to produce high-quality components that meet customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with coworkers to ensure efficient operations, quality work, and strong teamwork
- Interpret customer needs and plan the sequence of actions required to complete each job
- Select and operate appropriate machines and tools for each task
- Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine requirements
- Measure and mark materials for cutting and shaping
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet specifications
- Maintain accurate records of labor hours and materials used
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on machines
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Proven experience as a machinist
- Strong understanding of math and mechanical principles
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Experience operating manual machines (lathes, mills, band saws, etc.)
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers)
- Knowledge of metal properties and other materials
- Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane
- Welding experience is helpful
- Strong attention to detail and quality
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Frequent bending, twisting, and repetitive motion
- Regular use of hands to handle tools and equipment
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Good physical stamina
Work Environment & Supervision
This position operates with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently while taking direction from the Machine Shop Manager as needed.
Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
