Machine Shop Inspector

About the Role
A precision manufacturing facility in East Petersburg is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Inspector to support high‑accuracy machining operations. This role is ideal for someone fluent in GD&T, confident with complex inspection work, and motivated to build and refine inspection processes that strengthen overall quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform first‑article, in‑process, and final inspections on machined components.
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
- Use precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, gage pins, indicators, height gages, and other inspection instruments.
- Apply full GD&T principles to verify part conformity and document results.
- Develop, organize, and maintain inspection schedules, workflows, and quality procedures.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and leadership to resolve nonconformances and improve inspection efficiency.
- Maintain accurate inspection records and support internal/external audits.
- Recommend improvements to inspection methods, tooling, and overall quality processes.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in machining, precision manufacturing, or quality inspection.
- Strong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skills.
- Hands-on experience operating a CMM (programming experience preferred).
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.
- Solid understanding of GD&T and its real-world application.
- Ability to work independently and build structure around inspection processes.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience developing inspection workflows or quality procedures.
- Familiarity with ISO or AS quality systems.
- Background in high‑precision or tight‑tolerance machining environments.
