Job Summary
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Sports Equipment Manager 1. Under the direction of the Assistant Athletic Director for Equipment Services, this person is responsible for the operation of the equipment room to include planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, controlling and supervision of the equipment room that provides support for fourteen NCAA Division I athletic programs.

The salary for this position is $41,844 (minimum) up to $45,912 being offered. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.

Responsible for maintaining all uniforms and equipment within area of responsibility in a safe and usable condition. Includes, but is not limited to, helmet & shoulder pad repair, blocking sleds, headsets, public address systems, and all applicable laundry procedures & operations. Will ensure that section vehicles are maintained and controlled. Some repairs will require the ability to sew, rivet, replace cleats, replace shoulder pad strips, etc.

Responsible for ensuring the proper and safe/custom fitting of uniforms and protective equipment. Safety and liability will be a major concern when accomplishing fittings and prevention of injuries will be of up-most concern. Alterations to accommodate injured athletes will be carefully addressed in support to the athletes. Checks-in and distributes competition/practice gear. Maintains a complete inventory of uniforms and equipment by sport by efficiently and adequately keeping equipment room and locker rooms organized. This includes, but is not limited to, necessary storage and maintenance of office areas & issue/turn-in control points. Locker and lock assignments will be properly controlled to ensure accountability and combination confidentiality.

Required Qualifications
- High school graduation
- Two (2) years of equipment room and/or games areas experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with NCAA and/or Big Sky rules compliance as it relates to an equipment room.
- Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum one year of experience working in an NCAA Division I equipment room.
- Minimum one year of experience working in an equipment room at a Big Sky Conference institution or commensurate level.
- Experience managing student staff.
- Certified through AEMA or the ability to obtain certification.
