Science Associate for EWG Verified

The Science Associate will assist EWG’s Verified team to substantiate the health and safety of consumer products through maintaining our popular consumer databases (Skin Deep® Database, Guide to Healthy Cleaning, Guide to Sunscreens) and supporting our fast growing EWG VERIFIED™ program. EWG VERIFIED™ is a licensing program that assesses and identifies products that meet EWG VERIFIED™ criteria, our highest standard for transparency, health, and safety. 

The Science Associate will engage with companies interested in our databases and licensing program, communicate information about our programs and resources, collect and organize relevant documents, and act as a liaison within EWG.  

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for partner inquiries and customer service requests over email and calls.  
• Organize and maintain the team’s shared drive files.
• Contribute to the upkeep of the team’s project management tools. 
• Initiate the review of products for EWG’s licensing program, EWG VERIFIED, and related consumer databases by collecting and updating product information and assisting in database maintenance.
• Collaborating closely with EWG analysts, toxicologists, scientists, and administrators in ensuring that our databases and programs protect personal and public health.
• Participate in recurring meetings with EWG teams to discuss the development and maintenance of EWG programs, databases, and reports and take detailed notes and recording decisions. 
• Assist with other research and administrative tasks as necessary.

Qualifications: 

• Preferred: BS in science, environmental health, or public health fields. 
• Proficiency with Google applications, MS Excel, and Internet research.
• Experience with project management software, such as Trello and Asana is a plus.
• Attention to detail and accurate data entry.
• Keen organization skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to pace work to meet deadlines.
• Ability to effectively communicate. 
• Experience with consumer products is a plus.
