The Maintenance Craftsman is responsible for performing routine work in all of the craft skills required to construct, repair, and maintain plant equipment, utilities, building, and related structures of a silica-based chemical processing plant. The Maintenance Technician will also perform a restricted range of maintenance and construction duties in the various craft skills including mechanical, millwrighting, fabrication, welding, pipefitting, etc.
Employee is responsible for adhering to and practicing the GMP and Food safety procedures and controls implemented within the boundaries of their job function at the Etowah site.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be able to perform all job responsibilities safely and in compliance with all safety policies.
- Understand and be able to evaluate a LOTO for the system you are working on.
- Understand and follow all safety policies including Fall protection, First break, Hot work, Confined space, Powered industrial vehicles, Machine guarding, and Electrical Safety.
- Be able to recognize hazards in your work environment and develop solutions to them.
- Participate in and conduct safety meetings.
- Performs routine duties of fabricator-welder-pipe fitter.
- Lay out and fabricate sheet metal structures, transition pieces, square to rounds, laterals, cones, vessels, platforms, towers, storage tanks, stairways, control panels, conveyor systems, etc.
- Fabricates and installs screwed, flanged, and Teflon lined pipe such as: high- and low-pressure air, water, oil, steam, gas, caustic, acid, and other chemical lines, and airvey lines.
- Run tubing and make connections.
- Be able to identify and work with hydraulic fittings and hoses.
- Troubleshoot and replace valves
- Performs routine duties of mechanic-millwright.
- Monitors plant equipment, air compressors, airvey systems, fans, pumps, reducers, dryers, conveyors, filters, elevators, etc. for proper operation. Troubleshoot problems and make necessary adjustments and repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
- Be able to effectively communicate and document problems that were found or work that was done on equipment.
- Rebuild equipment (compressors, pumps, reducers, motors, valves), this includes making precision measurements to determine the condition of the components and making parts lists.
- Making in-place repairs to worn or defective equipment.
- Perform shaft alignment.
- Make welding repairs.
- Be able to use the computer system to look up parts and information on equipment.
- Detect and report faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor and performs other miscellaneous duties. Engage in preventative maintenance.

- High school diploma or GED is required
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing industry, preferred
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a Millwright
- Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, preferred
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to relate to and work with various personalities across multiple departments
- Must possess a strong safety-mindset
