Simulation Flight Software Integration Engineer

EVONA
Denver, CO Full Time
POSTED ON 6/18/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/16/2026
Space Robotics | Embedded Software | Simulation & Autonomy

Do you want to build the software infrastructure that allows autonomous vehicles to be tested, validated, and mission-ready before they ever leave the ground?

We're partnering with an innovative aerospace company developing next-generation robotic systems and autonomous vehicles for lunar exploration. They're looking for a Simulation Flight Software Integration Engineer to bridge the gap between high-fidelity simulations and real flight software, enabling advanced software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments.

This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of embedded software, robotics, simulation, autonomy, and spaceflight, helping ensure mission-critical systems perform as expected in some of the most challenging environments imaginable.

The Opportunity

As a Simulation Flight Software Integration Engineer, you'll own the interfaces that connect flight software with high-fidelity simulation environments. You'll collaborate closely with flight software, systems, autonomy, and test engineering teams to create robust testing frameworks that accelerate development and reduce risk before deployment.

If you enjoy working across software, hardware, robotics, and systems engineering disciplines, this role offers the chance to have a direct impact on real-world autonomous vehicle performance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define and document interfaces between flight software and simulation environments
  • Develop and maintain simulation integrations for software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Collaborate with flight software teams to establish shared interface standards
  • Own compatibility and version management between simulation and flight software releases
  • Develop unit and integration tests to validate software interfaces
  • Work with systems, test, and analysis teams to support continuous validation efforts
  • Support automated testing pipelines and verification activities
  • Troubleshoot integration issues across software and hardware environments
  • Help improve simulation fidelity and testing infrastructure across multiple vehicle programs

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience developing embedded software in C/C
  • Experience working with communication interfaces including:
    • Serial
    • UDP/IP
    • SPI
    • I2C
    • GPIO
  • Experience with Hardware Abstraction Layers (HALs)
  • Experience with ROS2
  • Strong Python and C development skills
  • Experience creating and maintaining API/interface documentation
  • Familiarity with Git, automated testing, and code coverage tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • U.S. Person status required
Preferred Experience

  • NASA Core Flight Software (cFS)
  • VxWorks RTOS
  • Google Test (gtest/gmock)
  • Docker and containerized development workflows
  • Linux, Windows, and macOS environments
  • Spacecraft or robotics software development
  • Hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing architectures
  • Experience working with physical system models, including:
    • Vehicle dynamics
    • Power systems
    • Thermal systems
    • RF/communications systems
    • Camera and sensor models
Why Join?

  • Help develop autonomous systems destined for lunar exploration missions
  • Work at the intersection of robotics, embedded software, simulation, and aerospace engineering
  • Build software that directly impacts mission readiness and vehicle performance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams solving real-world engineering challenges
  • Contribute to cutting-edge autonomous technologies operating in environments where failure isn't an option
  • Join a fast-moving engineering team where your work has visible impact from development through deployment

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Parental leave
  • Professional development and educational reimbursement
  • Opportunity to work on some of the most exciting challenges in autonomous robotics and space exploration

If you're passionate about embedded software, simulation, robotics, and creating reliable systems for complex missions, we'd love to hear from you.
