They're seeking a Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) Manager to lead safety, reliability, and mission assurance activities across one of the most ambitious human spaceflight programs currently in development.

You'll work closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, test, and program teams to identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, conduct safety reviews, and establish the processes that ensure mission success. This role offers the chance to influence vehicle design, operational safety, and mission readiness from concept through deployment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead all Safety & Mission Assurance activities across a major aerospace program
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety, reliability, and mission assurance policies
- Perform hazard analyses and identify potential failure modes throughout the product lifecycle
- Work with engineering teams to define, implement, and verify risk mitigation strategies
- Lead and coordinate:
- Hazard Reports
- FMECA activities
- Reliability assessments
- Service life analyses
- Risk management processes
- Partner with Quality teams to ensure effective Quality Management Systems (QMS) and quality assurance processes
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis activities
- Support workforce safety initiatives and ensure compliance with occupational safety standards
- Coordinate milestone reviews, safety review boards, and mission assurance assessments
- Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace and government regulations
- Drive continuous improvement of safety and reliability processes across the organization
- Mentor and lead mission assurance personnel and cross-functional teams
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 6 years of experience in Safety, Reliability, Mission Assurance, Systems Engineering, or Quality Engineering within aerospace, defense, or highly regulated industries
- Experience supporting NASA, DoD, or complex aerospace programs
- Experience creating and implementing Hazard Analysis reports
- Experience participating in or leading Safety Review Panels
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and mitigation methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to balance rigorous safety standards with fast-paced development schedules
- U.S. Person status required
- Previous leadership experience managing Safety & Mission Assurance teams
- Human-rated vehicle or crewed spaceflight programs
- Reliability engineering and reliability prediction methodologies
- FMECA and fault tree analysis
- Flight hardware development programs
- Spacecraft, launch vehicle, rover, or mobility platform experience
- Programs that have successfully launched or operated in space
- OSHA 10 Certification
- Familiarity with:
- FAR
- DFARS
- NASA standards and requirements
- Aerospace safety review processes
- Help shape the safety and reliability of future exploration missions
