About the Role
Company is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to lead financial reporting, planning, analysis, and cash management for New York retail business. This role is fully onsite in NYC and partners closely with senior leadership in Hong Kong.
What You’ll Do
- Close & Reporting: Own month-end close; prepare and analyze income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow; investigate variances; ensure timely, accurate reporting.
- Revenue & POS Reconciliation: Review daily cash and credit card sales and reconcile to the POS system.
- Treasury & Banking: Perform bank runs/deposits; prepare bank reconciliations; manage daily cash positioning and cash flow monitoring.
- Accounts Payable & Vendors: Receive, process, and verify invoices for payment; set up new vendors and collect W-9s; maintain complete, accurate records.
- General Ledger: Verify and post account transactions; maintain audit-ready accounting records and schedules.
- Inventory: Perform monthly inventory counts and partner with operations to resolve variances.
- FP&A: Analyze sales performance, margins, and operating costs; identify cost-optimization opportunities; lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Cash Flow Forecasting: Prepare and update short- and long-term cash flow forecasts; flag potential shortfalls and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Controls & Process Improvement: Maintain internal controls and drive process improvements across reporting and analysis.
- External Partnerships: Coordinate with banks, auditors, vendors, and consultants as needed.
- Projects: Support ad-hoc financial projects and assignments.
What You’ll Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA (or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience: 5 years in financial management/analysis within Food & Beverage and retail environments.
- Skills:
- Strong financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency with financial/retail systems; experience with QuickBooks, Toast, MarginEdge, Tripleseat is a plus.
- Excellent communication—able to translate complex financials for non-finance stakeholders.
- Independent, detail-oriented, and effective in a fast-paced, onsite setting.
- Logistics: Ability to commute to NYC reliably; comfortable collaborating across time zones with Hong Kong-based management.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is a professional, onsite office/retail support role requiring frequent use of a computer, regular walking to/from nearby bank branches for deposits, and occasional lifting/moving of office or inventory materials associated with monthly counts (reasonable accommodations available).
Pay & Employment Details
- Salary Range: $100,000–$130,000 annually (DOE).
- Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire; onsite 5 days/week in New York, NY.
