Our Indianapolis-based client is one of central Indiana’s most trusted non-profit providers for affordable primary, behavioral, and dental health services


This is an average of a 32-to-40-hour-per-week contract position (estimated 4-6 months, with temp-to-perm potential in their organization). Someone with prior HR experience supporting payroll, benefits, and HRIS admin, and ideally with employee populations of 100 and growing. HR experience in a clinical, healthcare, and/or behavioral health setting is preferred.


Summary

The HR Specialist will be responsible for onboarding new employees to acclimate them to the client's culture, facilitating HRIS and leave of absence processes, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role administers employee benefit plans, serves as a liaison between employees and insurance providers, and serves as the payroll liaison with their 3rd-party payroll processing partners.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Maintain and disseminate personnel information using the human resources/payroll information system.
  • Assist with all facets of new hire orientation and onboarding, including drug/background check, etc.
  • Educate newly hired employees on HR policies, internal procedures, and regulations
  • Assist the payroll department in processing accurate, timely payroll each pay period.
  • Establish and maintain human resources department files in an organized and secure manner.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include, but is not limited to, safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, aptitude exams, and certifications.
  • Administer and audit group benefit programs, including insurance and 401(k).
  • Provide professional human resources orientation for all new staff and be available as a training resource.
  • To ensure clear and effective communication with supervisors and employees as required.
  • To respond to reference requests and conduct exit interviews, in accordance with client policies.
  • Review and complete privileging/re-privileging packets for all clinical staff.
  • To administer and track leaves of absence in accordance with company policy.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Respond and process unemployment claims.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, preferred
  • At least two-five years of human resource generalist experience required
  • Experience working in ADP and Greenhouse is highly desirable


Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel), and proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
