About the Role:
This isn’t your run-of-the-mill “plug in a printer and bounce” field tech gig. At Evolv I.T., our Field Technicians are front-line heroes—on-site and hands-on—resolving issues, setting up tech, and leaving clients genuinely impressed. You’ll be the face of Evolv I.T. out in the real world, delivering fast, effective, and professional support across a wide range of environments.
You won’t be alone—our support team’s got your back. But we’re looking for someone who’s confident rolling solo when needed, thinks two steps ahead, and thrives in environments that keep you on your toes.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Deliver on-site support for end-user devices, networking gear, and workstations.
- Set up new hardware and software for client offices (workstations, printers, network hardware).
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in-person and occasionally remote.
- Assist with office moves, cabling, and infrastructure setup.
- Work closely with Tier 1 and 2 to ensure seamless handoffs and follow-through.
- Document your work with precision—every job, every time.
- Be a friendly, professional presence that makes clients feel supported and confident in our services.
What We Expect from You:
- 1–2 years of IT support experience (MSP experience a big plus).
- Strong grasp of Windows environments, basic networking (routers, switches, cabling), and common hardware/software setups.
- Customer-first mindset—you’re as good with people as you are with PCs.
- You can lift 50 lbs, crawl under desks, and keep your cool when the office chaos is real.
- Clean driving record and willingness to travel within the Birmingham metro.
- You’re organized, proactive, and follow up without being asked twice.
This Role is NOT for You If:
- You’re not comfortable troubleshooting in front of a client.
- You think documentation is optional.
- You shy away from physical tasks like moving equipment or running cables.
