Job Title: Sr Staff/Principal Data Center Network Engineer
Location: Plano, Texas
Duration: 6 12 months (contract)
Experience: 15 years
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead technical strategy and architectures: Drive the definition and execution of complex, high-impact engineering projects and influence company-wide technology
- Mentor and develop engineers
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary adjustments to optimize performance and reliability
- Primary owner and person responsible for managing our Texas data center
- Manage space and power capacity
- Oversee server and storage installations
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices and security standards in network configuration and operations
Must have skills:
- BS (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or a related field, MS is preferred.
- 15 years in network engineering, data center management or relevant experience
- Expert level knowledge with Cisco ACI
- Service provider networking technologies and protocols, including BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, Segment Routing, RSVP, QoS, EVPN, VXLAN, traffic engineering (backbone & edge)
- Passionate about infrastructure automation through software, together with solid hands-on experience of network automation
- Involvement with modern observability platforms (Elastic, Grafana, gNMI, etc)
- Experience with network flow export (Netflow, IPFIX, sFlow) and analysis
- Experience presenting to senior leadership
- Proven leadership abilities, including mentoring, team building and project management experience
Nice to have skills:
- CCIE Data Center
- Some experience as a team lead
- Data center management experience with power and space capacity manager
- Solid security minded foundation and thought process
- Understanding of ITIL terminology for incident and change management.
- Experience with Data center power and cooling concepts.
- Experience with Data Center Infrastructure management (DCIM)
