Swim School Supervisor / Shift Lead
Position Summary
The Swim School Supervisor / Shift Lead is a key member of the management team responsible for supporting the daily operations of the swim school. This role provides leadership during assigned shifts, coaches instructors and customer service staff, ensures exceptional customer experiences, and helps maintain a safe, organized, and positive environment for students, families, and employees.
Working closely with the Site Manager, the Supervisor helps execute operational goals, develops team members, and ensures the swim school consistently delivers high-quality instruction and outstanding service.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Leadership
Lead daily operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient facility operations.
Serve as the manager-on-duty when scheduled.
Support opening and closing procedures.
Ensure classes begin and end on schedule.
Monitor staffing levels and adjust assignments as needed throughout the day.
Address operational issues quickly while maintaining a positive environment.
Team Leadership & Development
Coach and mentor swim instructors.
Reinforce company policies, procedures, and service standards.
Assist with training new employees.
Provide real-time feedback and recognize outstanding performance.
Foster teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
Escalate performance concerns and operational issues to the Site Manager when appropriate.
Swim Instruction
Teach swim lessons using the swim school's curriculum and instructional methods.
Create a fun, safe, and positive learning environment for every student.
Adapt instruction to meet each student's age, skill level, and learning style.
Encourage student confidence while promoting water safety and skill development.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to families when appropriate.
Customer Experience
Deliver exceptional service to every family.
Resolve customer questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Support student retention by helping families navigate class progression and scheduling.
Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Operations & Administration
Assist with scheduling adjustments and shift coverage.
Support enrollment goals by assisting prospective families and promoting swim programs.
Maintain accurate records, attendance, and daily operational reports.
Ensure facility cleanliness, organization, and equipment readiness.
Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs.
Safety & Compliance
Promote and enforce all safety procedures.
Ensure instructors maintain active supervision of students.
Respond appropriately during emergencies.
Help maintain compliance with company policies and required certifications.
Qualifications
Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
Experience in aquatics, swim instruction, recreation, education, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to coach and motivate others.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Comfortable making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
Basic computer and scheduling software proficiency preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Comfortable working in a warm, humid pool environment.
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
Schedule
Part-time opportunities available. Potential to grow into Full-time.
Availability to work late afternoon/early evenings and weekends(Friday/Saturday) is required.
