Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those requiring specialized support. In this role, you will work closely with residents in group homes, assisted living facilities, or home care settings to promote independence, safety, and well-being. The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, and committed to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve.
Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration and monitor vital signs in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Support residents during meal preparation and feeding, ensuring nutritional needs are met
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia or Alzheimer's care
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe transfer procedures
- Conduct patient observation to identify changes in behavior or health status and report findings appropriately
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light cleaning and sanitation tasks
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental health and community integration
- Document care activities accurately while respecting privacy and confidentiality standards
Requirements
- Prior experience working with people with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or in senior care environments such as nursing homes or assisted living facilities is preferred
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and knowledge of HIPAA compliance are highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and operate assistive devices safely
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety oversight
- Experience with medication administration and vital signs measurement preferred
- Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills for working with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various care settings including home & community care or hospice environments
- Flexibility to work shifts that may include evenings or weekends based on resident needs
