Description:Every Child Pediatrics is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to work in our nonprofit School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs). SBHCs provide critical health resources to a community’s most vulnerable. These centers are integrated primary care clinics located on Aurora Public School campuses. Just like a traditional pediatric practice, we provide comprehensive primary care, behavioral health and oral health to the students of Aurora Public Schools and their siblings, serving neonatal through 21 years of age. Medical assistants at the SBHCs work side by side an interdisciplinary care team, providing high quality healthcare regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.Duties and Responsibilities:Checks-in patients, confirms patient identification, and schedules appointmentsDocuments patient metrics including vital signs, height, and weightPerforms other screenings as requested and orderedKeeps provider and patient/family apprised of patient status and progress in order to assist with keeping the visit on time and on scheduleVerifies insurance, collects copays, and manages medical documentsExplains all procedures to the patient and family in a way that ensures understandingRelays important patient information to the provider as soon as possible in order to expedite a high quality, safe and effective visitPerforms specific procedures as requested and ordered by provider in a skillful and professional mannerInforms clinic manager about assigned tasks that may require a higher level of skill or competency; utilizes other team members as a resource for care requiring their expertiseResponds to incoming phone and electronic health portal messagesAdheres to established Every Child Pediatrics clinical policies and procedures; stays updated on all changesTreats all clients with dignity and respect and honors their right to privacyRequirements:HS diploma/GEDMedical Assistant Diploma (Certificate not required)Bilingual in English and SpanishBLS/CPR CertificationAbility to perform tasks and clinical skills necessary for the care of pediatric patients including but not limited to vital signs, immunizations, blood and urine specimen collectionAbility to use medical testing devices including but not limited to pulse oximetry, glucose monitoring, hemoglobin monitoring, nebulizers, blood testing, and oxygen deliveryAbility to pass a criminal background checkAll candidates must be current residents of the State of Colorado
