Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Approve incoming lumber by confirming dimension and grade specifications, conducting visual and measurement inspections, and rejecting or returning unacceptable material.
Verify in-process production by confirming required dimension and grade specifications, conducting visual and measurement checks at resaw, rip, trim, and planer stations, and communicating required adjustments to Remanufacturing Operators and the Supervisor.
Sample finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests on lumber, including dimension, moisture content, and grade verification.
Identify and segregate product for rework or reprocessing and complete documentation to confirm rework.
Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs.
Keep measurement and grading equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs as needed.
Maintain a safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with company policies.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical and industry publications.
Learn the remanufacturing process and assist operators with daily operations tasks.
Develop and maintain databases; analyze production data and recognize trends; suggest changes that positively impact conformance, efficiency, and throughput.
Provide training and consultation; assist with onboarding new team members; identify strengths and weaknesses of individuals and encourage utilization of strengths while training to address deficiencies.
Troubleshoot production issues including cycle times, inputs (lumber, materials), mechanical and controls issues, measurement/grading equipment, human error, and oversight; see issues through to resolution.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures to address recognized opportunities for improvement.
Communicate with partners (other departments, equipment manufacturers, and third-party grading or quality oversight) to secure positive outcomes.
Support Remanufacturing Operations Support Team projects; assist with repairs, upgrades, and installations; follow up with training to ensure a smooth transition to new equipment or technologies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical equipment and wood dust in a mill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and variable indoor/outdoor temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and hearing protection is required in designated areas.
