Duties
- Develop and execute comprehensive lesson plans aligned with individualized education programs (IEPs) and curriculum standards for students with disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum or with developmental delays
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies such as behavioral therapy, speech therapy techniques, and literacy and math education tailored to each child's unique needs
- Manage classroom behavior proactively through positive reinforcement, behavior management techniques, and consistent routines to create a safe and nurturing environment
- Collaborate regularly with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behavioral specialists, parents, and other educators to support student progress and adapt instructional approaches accordingly
- Utilize educational technology tools to enhance learning experiences and facilitate communication for students with neurodevelopmental disorders
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress through standardized testing, formative evaluations, and documentation of IEP goals achievement
- Maintain accurate records of student development, behavior interventions, lesson modifications, and parent communications while ensuring compliance with special education law
Experience
- Proven classroom experience in early childhood education or elementary school settings, preferably within special education or inclusive classrooms
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development for children with disabilities, including experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other neurodevelopmental conditions
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles, behavior management strategies for students with special needs, and early intervention techniques
- Familiarity with IEP processes, special education law, instructional modifications, and standardized testing procedures
- Experience integrating educational technology into lesson planning to support diverse learning styles
- Excellent communication skills for effective parent-teacher collaboration and team coordination
- Prior experience working in private schools or Montessori settings is a plus; certification in speech therapy or behavioral health is advantageous
