Job Purpose
The staff accountant will be accountable for supporting with the day-to-day accounting operations of Evermore Cannabis Company. Responsibilities include assisting the Senior Accountant and accounting team with accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, payroll journals, and the monthly close process including preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Aid with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities when needed.
- Assist with fixed assets management.
- Assist with the monthly closing process, including assisting with the preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Troubleshoot transactional issues and identify/suggest internal control improvements and operational efficiencies where appropriate.
- Perform data entry and general ledger coding.
- Prepare journal entries.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in other accounting projects, as necessary.
Qualifications & Skills
These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.
Qualifications include:
- Experience with general ledger accounting, accruals, prepaid expenses, and reconciliations
- Proficiency in computer usage including accounting software, MS Office applications (MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive employee information
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting/finance
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
- Excellent time-management skills; ability to effectively plan and prioritize
- Strong problem-solving skills including anticipatory thinking and the ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm composure
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
- Office environment, typically, with use of telephone, computer, and other office equipment as needed to perform duties
- Noise level is typical of that of an office setting
- This position will be required to adhere to all current COVID-19 safety regulations that are in place including, but not limited to: wearing a mask, using hand sanitizer, social distancing, etc.
- Regularly required to talk and hear
- Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and to use repetitive hand motions
