Primary Purpose
Provide direct, systematic, and multisensory reading and spelling instruction to students identified with or at risk for dyslexia. Collaborate with campus staff and families to ensure students receive appropriate instructional support and accommodations in compliance with IDEA and the Texas Dyslexia Handbook. May also provide direct services to students receiving special education services.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Deliver small-group and individualized dyslexia intervention using TEA-approved, evidence-based programs (e.g., Reading by Design, Take Flight, MTA, or other structured literacy programs).
- Utilize research-based instructional methods to meet students' unique literacy and language needs.
- Case manage by monitoring and documenting student progress regularly; prepare and maintain accurate compliance records.
- Collaborate with all stakeholders, and ARD committees to develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
- Assist in the screening and referral process for students with suspected dyslexia.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and comply with all federal, state, and district regulations.
- Participate in required professional development and maintain required training related to dyslexia and structured literacy programs.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians, campus staff, and administrators regarding student progress and instructional strategies.
- Develop accurate and data-driven PLAAFP statements that reflect students' academic achievement and functional performance, aligning goals to their unique needs.
- Collaborate with educators to design Standards-Based IEP (SBIEP) goals and objectives that align with state curriculum standards and support student progress.
- Collect and analyze ongoing progress-monitoring data to ensure IEP goals remain appropriate; make recommendations for adjustments as needed during ARD meetings.
- May deliver specially designed instruction in either an inclusion or pull-out setting, as permitted by the required certification.
- May also include other duties as assigned.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate appropriate for the assignment.
- Completion of or willingness to complete TEA-approved dyslexia intervention training (e.g., Reading by Design).
- Special Education EC12 certification.
- Prior experience in reading instruction, intervention, or serving students with dyslexia.
- Knowledge of the Texas Dyslexia Handbook, Section 504, and IDEA.
- Understanding of reading development, phonological awareness, and dyslexia intervention practices.
- Ability to analyze and use assessment data to guide instruction.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
- Small-group pull-out setting within a campus environment.
- Occasional travel for training or professional development may be required.
- Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent standing, walking, and lifting of instructional materials.
