Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using proper patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area.
- Support residents with medication administration following care plans and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, engaging residents in meaningful activities to promote mental well-being.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols, cleaning resident areas regularly, and assisting with manual handling tasks safely.
- Document care provided accurately in resident records, including updates on patient status, medication logs, and incident reports.
Skills
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly valued.
- Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and neurodevelopmental disabilities support.
- Proficiency in assisting with ADLs, patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or patient transfer techniques, and vital signs measurement.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams while respecting residents’ rights and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Experience in performing first aid and CPR certifications are preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated ability to handle heavy lifting safely and perform manual handling tasks with proper technique.
