Tether House is seeking a skilled and motivated Installation Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will install, configure, and troubleshoot residential technology systems, including home automation, security, audio, video, networking, and smart home solutions. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and enjoys working with the latest technology to create exceptional experiences for homeowners.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure home automation systems, smart home devices, and integrated technology solutions.
- Install and service residential security systems, surveillance cameras, access control devices, and alarm equipment.
- Install and configure whole-home audio, home theater, television, and video distribution systems.
- Run, terminate, and test low-voltage wiring including CAT6, speaker wire, coaxial cable, and fiber when applicable.
- Configure and troubleshoot home networks, Wi-Fi systems, routers, switches, and connected devices.
- Read and interpret project plans, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.
- Perform system testing, quality control checks, and customer demonstrations upon project completion.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and perform service calls as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at customer job sites.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, project managers, and team members.
- Document installations, service work, and project progress accurately.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in low-voltage, home automation, security, networking, AV, or related technical installation work preferred.
- Knowledge of residential audio/video systems, smart home technology, and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with structured wiring and low-voltage cabling.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and ladders safely.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in attics, crawl spaces, and construction environments as needed.
- Experience with platforms such as Control4, Savant, Lutron, Sonos, Alarm.com, Ubiquiti, or similar systems is a plus.
Preferred Skills
- Home automation programming and commissioning experience.
- Networking certifications or technical training.
- Security system installation and troubleshooting experience.
- Home theater, distributed audio, and smart lighting installation experience.

Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday with occasional overtime as project needs require.
Work Location: Columbus, Ohio and surrounding areas.
Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
