Job Summary
We are a small animal, privately owned, two doctor practice in Oxford, CT. We are a family focused practice with hard working, dedicated staff who help move the practice forward with good medicine and great communication with our clients. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine and a passion for providing exceptional care to animals. This role involves diagnosing and treating various animal health issues, performing surgical procedures, and educating pet owners on proper care practices. The Veterinarian will work closely with a team of veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose medical conditions.
- Perform surgical procedures, including spaying, neutering, and other necessary operations.
- Administer vaccinations and medications as needed.
- Utilize knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology to provide effective treatments.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting treatments and progress.
- Provide guidance to pet owners regarding proper care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Handle animals safely and effectively using appropriate restraint techniques.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians in laboratory testing and analysis of samples.
- Implement aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
- Stay current with advancements in veterinary medicine through continuous education.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in the state of employment.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and handling techniques.
- Experience with veterinary critical care is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in animal catheterization and laboratory procedures is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality care standards.
