Full Day - 8 hours/$358.00

Half Day - 4 hours/$228.00

Valid Washington Administrator Certificate is required.

 

Substitute employees may accrue sick leave at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked under Washington State Law. Upon working 630 hours in a school year, substitutes may be eligible for insurance benefits through School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) which includes medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life and AD&D insurance.

Summary:

Substitute Administrators are valued members of the Evergreen School District community who play an integral role in supporting the students and schools of EPS every day. Working as a Substitute Administrator with Evergreen Public Schools requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability, as Substitute Administrators are eligible to work throughout the district in any school on an as-needed basis. Substitute Administrators provide instructional leadership for an Elementary, Middle or High School or specialty school campus under the supervision of the Superintendent while the regular full time Administrator (Principal or Associate Principal) is unavailable. As a Substitute Administrator you will take on the roles and responsibilities of the full time administrator you are covering for, including evening school events and other duties the full time administrator would typically participate in for extended substitute assignments.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Lead a school culture conducive to continuous improvement for students and staff.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, and community by modeling respect, cooperation, and professionalism with others, recognizing the personal achievements and professional contributions of others and demonstrating knowledge of a sensitivity toward individuals and groups from all racial, ethnic/cultural, national socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Lead instructional staff in aligning curriculum, instruction and assessment with state and local learning goals.
  • Monitor, assist and evaluate staff implementation and support of the school performance plan, effective instruction and assessment practices.
  • Lead the management of human and fiscal resources to accomplish achievement goals.
  • Provide and/or facilitate training of staff with regard to the most effective practices which lead to higher student achievement regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or prior academic achievement.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of activities and/or athletics.
  • Leads for inclusive programming for students qualified for special education services and those learning English as a second language.
  • Support and lead the school staff in the areas of discipline and general building supervision.
  • Engage teachers in Professional Learning Communities for the purpose of improving student achievement.
  • Demonstrate ability to use technology to problem solve and model 21st century communication skills.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Cultural Proficiency and leadership in this area.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to closing the achievement gap.
  • Develops cultural competence and a commitment to equity in outcomes and opportunities for adults and students.
    1. Leads for equity towards college and career readiness.
    2. Nurtures a school environment that celebrates, respects, and values diversity where teaching and learning are made relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures.
    3. Publically draws attention to all equity gaps that exist for various groups of students with plans to address their elimination.
    4. Initiates activities and discussions that lead to increased cultural competence of staff, informing and expanding teaching practices within classrooms.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington Administrator Certificate is required.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communications with diverse community members to include students, staff, parents and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to respond to and engage with a diverse multi-cultural and multi-racial community, and to work side by side and foster strong, positive relationships with parents, staff, students and the public.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Successful experience in working with staff in the improvement of instruction.
  • Successful experience in the development of curriculum.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating engaging professional development for staff and a commitment to equity while building a diverse and inclusive school community.
  • Strong orientation toward and proper use of technology and computer applications.
  • Experience with Professional Learning Communities and results focused teacher collaboration.
  • Knowledge and experience with a workshop model of instruction.
