Position Description
Teach fifth grade class using the EL Education model, which emphasizes integrated, differentiated instruction, experiential learning, collaborative planning and teaching, student responsibility, environmental education, and community involvement. Teach the NC Standard Course of Study for math and science to two fifth grade classes 26 students each. Practice formative and summative assessment, provide critical feedback and guidance, establish rapport with students and parents, and work collaboratively with the fifth grade team. Professional teachers with passion, flexibility, high expectations, consistent classroom management, and a sense of adventure are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and North Carolina teacher licensure (or eligibility for licensure) in elementary education.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in the teaching of upper elementary grade students. Lived experience that supports connections with groups of students who have diverse racial and ethnic identities. Skills/interests in one or more of the following areas: differentiated instruction, social justice, environmental literacy, character education, and service learning.
