Elementary Teacher (Grade 4/5 Split) – Transition to Lead Teacher in January

Evergreen Christian Private School is seeking a dedicated, Christ-centered educator to join our elementary team. This is a unique opportunity for a teacher to spend the first semester learning alongside an experienced classroom teacher before transitioning into the lead teaching role in January.

From August through December, the successful candidate will serve as a classroom aide and co-teacher, becoming familiar with our students, curriculum, daily routines, classroom management, and school culture. Beginning in January, the candidate will assume full responsibility as the lead teacher for our Grade 4/5 split classroom. (Pay Change)

This position is ideal for an educator who values collaboration, enjoys building relationships with students, and appreciates the opportunity for a smooth transition into a lead teaching role.

Responsibilities

August–December:

• Support the lead teacher in daily classroom instruction and activities.
• Build positive relationships with students and families.
• Learn classroom routines, curriculum, and school expectations.
• Assist with lesson preparation, small-group instruction, and classroom management.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.

Beginning in January:

• Plan and deliver engaging instruction for a Grade 4/5 split classroom.
• Foster a positive, Christ-centered learning environment.
• Assess student learning and communicate progress with families.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support student success.
• Maintain an organized and welcoming classroom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification (or ability to obtain one, as applicable).
• Experience teaching at the elementary level is preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• A personal Christian faith and a commitment to supporting the mission and values of Evergreen Christian Private School.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
