Location: Evergreen Christian Academy, Greenville, NC
Job Type: Part-time. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday is a partial day (class is from 8:30 to 1:30pm). Mondays and Fridays include remote office hours online (approximately two hours).

Position Overview:
Evergreen Christian Academy (ECA) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kindergarten Teacher to join our close-knit community. This is a part-time position that involves both on-site and responsibilities related to overseeing homeschool teaching. The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood education, grounded in Christian values, and able to foster a supportive, nurturing, and academically challenging environment for young learners. The position is split between 3 days of in-person classroom teaching and 2 days of overseeing at home education, creating a flexible and dynamic teaching experience.
Key Responsibilities:On-Site Classroom Teaching (3 days/week):
- Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction in all subjects.
- Integrate Christian values into daily lessons and activities, modeling Christ-centered behavior.
- Create a warm, welcoming, and structured classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters social-emotional development.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the individual needs of students while adhering to the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and additional support as needed.
- Foster collaboration and positive communication with parents (co-teachers) through regular updates, conferences, and progress reports.
- Assist students in developing foundational skills, such as literacy, numeracy, fine motor skills, and socialization.
Homeschool Teaching (2 days/week):
- Implement lesson plans for students to be completed at home, ensuring alignment with on-site classroom instruction.
- Provide clear instructions and expectations for at home days, balancing academic work with hands-on activities and interactive learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents (co-teachers) to track student progress, answer questions, and provide guidance for homeschooling activities.
- Maintain office hours on homeschool days to address any questions or provide support to parents (co-teachers).
- Track and record progress for each student on at home days, ensuring a cohesive learning experience between on-site and at-home teaching.
General Responsibilities:
- Create a safe, nurturing environment where students feel valued and supported.
- Actively participate in school community events.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, administrators, and parents (co-teachers) to ensure the overall success of the K-1 program.
- Adhere to school policies, including those related to curriculum, safety, and Christian principles.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Complete administrative tasks that pertain to the school and classroom as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field (preferred).
- Experience teaching young children in a classroom setting and/or homeschool environments.
- A deep personal commitment to the Christian faith and the ability to incorporate Christian teachings into the classroom.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with parents (co-teachers) and colleagues.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a part-time, split-teaching role.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for young learners.
- Certification in early childhood education or teaching credential (or willingness to obtain).
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A background check is required for this position.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage with children on the floor or at their level for hands-on activities.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., for classroom materials or student assistance).
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time during classroom instruction.
