We are seeking 2 veterinary assistants or Licensed Veterinary Technicians for a busy and expanding, exotics-only, veterinary hospital. We have new doctors joining our team and need experienced assistants and technicians to help them provide the best care for our patients.
Veterinary assistant duties include, but are not limited to, lifting and restraining various species for exams and procedures (no large dogs to strain your back! though geese, turkeys and giant rabbits are possible), obtaining and processing lab samples, hospital cleaning and organization, medicating and caring for hospital patients, writing medical notes and maintaining hospital records, assisting in surgery, discharging patients (demonstrating medication techniques to owners and discussing care), preparing and compounding medications (with a medical clerk license), and laundry! We provide boarding for exotic animals, so duties also include care of in-house boarders during the week and weekends on a rotating basis.
All staff are required to rotate through weekend shifts. Training for handling unfamiliar species will be provided.
