We are seeking a skilled Accounting Professional to manage project- and company-level financial operations for a client in the mission-critical infrastructure services industry, based in Columbia, MD. TSS has a strong record of success designing, installing, and maintaining the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and control systems that serve our customers’ data centers, critical operational facilities, commercial office and retail space, industrial facilities, health care centers, and government buildings. This role owns key accounting functions, supports project teams, and plays a crucial role in leading the day-to-day accounting operations.

The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of accounting principles, exceptional organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Financial Reporting: Lead the month-end close and prepare timely, accurate, and auditable financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Job Costing – Oversee and validate job costing, support project budgeting, monitor cost performance, and support job forecasting
- Project Accounting - Manage project-level accounting workflows, including job setup, documentation, and reporting of individual projects, contracts, and invoices
- General Accounting - manage the internal coordination of payroll, G/L, and credit [credit??]
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard the company’s financial resources and ensure proper documentation.
- Cash Management: Manage billing and collections processes as well as cash/bank reconciliations and cash projections
- Team Management: Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering professional growth while driving continuous improvement in financial processes.
- Executive Support: Provide financial reporting to senior leadership to aid in business decision-making
What We’d Love You to Have
- Direct experience in construction project accounting
- Experience coaching project managers through budgeting, reporting, and closeout
- Background in developing policies
- Participation in internal and external audits
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and related software tools
- CPA a plus but not mandatory
Education, Training & Experience
- 6–10 years of accounting experience in the construction industry with project accounting methods
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
- 5 years of Microsoft Excel
- Foundation Software experience is preferred
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
