Position Overview
Everglades Harvesting, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Safety Assistant to support our Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining safety programs across our agricultural and transportation operations. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the field, assisting with training, and helping ensure worker, vehicle, and housing safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily field and housing safety inspections under the direction of the Safety Manager.
- Assist with worker orientations, toolbox talks, and bilingual safety meetings.
- Monitor compliance with PPE, equipment use, and transportation safety rules.
- Help maintain training records, inspection checklists, and safety files.
- Support incident reporting, hazard tracking, and corrective action documentation.
- Assist in fuel, chemical, and pesticide safety oversight (HAZMAT).
- Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) binders and update postings at all sites.
- Coordinate with supervisors to ensure safe working and housing conditions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or safety certification preferred.
- 1–3 years of safety, field, or compliance experience preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and H-2A safety requirements a plus.
- OSHA 10-Hour certification required (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- CPR/First Aid and HAZMAT training preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

- Strong communication and organization skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify potential hazards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic reporting tools.
- Able to work outdoors, travel between sites, and adapt to changing priorities.
