Sr. Plant Controller - Manufacturing & Integrations
Location: Montgomery, Alabama
Pay: 140k-175k DOE relocation bonus benefits package
Position Overview
The Plant Controller will lead financial reporting, cost accounting and internal controls for manufacturing operations our new location!
We are a global manufacturer of household, industrial, and automotive chemical products. We have continued to acquire brands across the US and Canada to combine into a powerhouse. This is a recent acquisition and the goal is to transfer and integrate other manufacturing facilities under one roof in our 380,000 sq ft plant.
This is a highly visible role with boots on the ground at the plant in Montgomery full-time and interfacing with the C-level daily as the integration launches ramp-up. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has handled cost accounting for upwards of 5k SKUs. We have lofty goals for this plant and the Sr. Plant Controller will be an integral part of that.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute month-end and year-end close activities for plant-level financials, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Prepare and present consolidated plant financial statements, management reports and KPI dashboards to operations and senior leadership.
- Own cost accounting processes including BOM maintenance, inventory valuation, standard costing, cost roll-ups and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain annual budgets, rolling forecasts and long-range plans in collaboration with operations and corporate finance.
- Evaluate capital projects using financial modeling and ROI analysis, and manage CapEx tracking and capitalization according to policy.
- Design, implement and test internal controls to ensure SOX compliance and support external and internal audits.
- Drive continuous improvement of ERP processes and master data (routings, inventory mappings) in partnership with IT and operations.
- Supervise, coach and develop plant accounting staff; establish clear responsibilities and performance metrics.
- Prepare clear, persuasive financial presentations and summaries for site leadership, divisional controllers and corporate stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA, CMA or equivalent preferred.
- 5-10 years of progressive manufacturing or distribution accounting experience, including plant controller responsibilities.
- Demonstrated expertise in month-end and year-end close processes, GAAP accounting and external audit support.
- Expert cost accounting background: BOMs, standard costing, inventory valuation methods, variance analysis and capacity utilization reporting.
- Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling and capital project ROI analysis.
- Deep knowledge of internal controls, SOX requirements and audit readiness.
- Advanced ERP experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) with proven ability to improve master data and financial processes.
- Expert Excel skills and experience with financial reporting tools.
- Experience managing CapEx accounting, fixed asset capitalization and depreciation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate finance analyses for non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to develop and manage a high-performing plant accounting team.
