EVERETT ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL ADJUNCT ESL TEACHER - SUMMER
The Alternative School ESL Education Teacher is responsible for utilizing research-based pedagogical strategies to teach and engage diverse groups of students in grades 9-12. This Teacher is critical to the success of our alternative school program for overaged, under-credited High School Students. The Alternative School Adjunct Teacher must be flexible and willing to meet the scheduling needs of students. Teachers must exercise culturally responsive practices to promote equity and respect for all students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Massachusetts Teaching Licensure
- SEI Endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education or a related field.
- Current ESL teacher at Everett High School with knowledge of HQIM and programs used in the department.
- Experience using educational technology tools to support interactive learning.
- Strong ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Essential Duties:
- Plan and facilitate ESL lessons for in-person learning and hybrid models, aligning them with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Teach daily mini-lessons in ESL to small groups of students, with varying levels of English language proficiency, and one-on-one.
- Able to use or willing to learn Edmentum virtual platform.
- Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners.
- Embrace a strong growth mindset and engage in professional development that addresses the challenges of urban education to close opportunity gaps.
- Collaborate with the School Counselor to refer students who require social-emotional support.
- Complete other tasks as assigned, to support the summer program.
- Implement competency based grading aligned with WIDA standards.
Times: 3 days per week, 10am - 1pm, with an additional hour of planning each week. The program runs 5 weeks, starting June 23rd and runs through July 23rd. Hours not to exceed 50 hours or $2,000.

Stipend Rate: $40/hr
