Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and reliable heavy equipment operator who is willing to commit to, and grow with our company. Primary areas of service are Summit and Wasatch Counties. We offer competitive wages based on experience, and and extensive benefit package.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Operate heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, etc.) in a safe and professional manner at residential and commercial job sites.
- Perform daily pre/post operation inspections with appropriate documentation.
- Check fluid levels, tires/tracks, lights, and other controls for safe operation.
- Excavate, grade, backfill, and move earth/materials according to project requirements.
- Load and unload equipment or materials safely.
- Read and follow site plans, grades, and instructions, with the ability to work independently when needed.
- Monitor gauges and equipment performance during operation.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures for a safe working environment. Report any problems or unsafe conditions immediately.
- Maintain equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with vendors, contractors, and crew members to support smooth project operations.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment operating experience required.
- Must be capable of reading site plans and working independently as needed.
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Compliance with all OSHA regulations.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Knowledge and skills to safely operate excavators, loaders, dozers, and related equipment.
- Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
- Ability to read, write, and do basic mathematical calculations to keep time and material records.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, grade stakes, and elevations.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a crew.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to represent the company professionally when interacting with vendors, contractors, and clients.
Physical Requirements
- Job requires climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, frequent lifting, stretching, and working on uneven terrain.
- Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear.
- May require sitting in equipment for extended periods of time.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on an ongoing basis.

Work Environment
- Able to work in all weather conditions.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be exposed to dust, noise, and outdoor elements.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn.
- The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but is typically moderate.
