Anticipated Multimedia and Broadcast Production CTE Instructor

 

Description:


The Multimedia & Broadcast Production Instructor optimizes students' investment in occupational knowledge, technical skills, and creative production to prepare them for success in the media industry. The instructor is responsible for the successful delivery of the Chapter 74 Multimedia Production & Broadcast frameworks and leveraging industry expertise to provide authentic, real-world learning experiences. Students will develop skills in video production, broadcasting, audio production, journalism, and digital media, while working toward industry-recognized credentials and postsecondary
readiness.


Location: Everett High School


Required Education/Experience:

  • Licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Vocational Technical Multimedia & Broadcast Production Teacher or licensed as a Radio & Television Broadcasting Teacher (or eligible for licensure)
    • Passing score on required subject matter tests (written and performance) in Radio & Television Broadcasting
    • Passing score on the Communication & Literacy Skills Test or the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test (VTLST)
    • Documentation of employment experience (or approved self-employment verification) in alignment with DESE requirements
  • Associate’s degree or higher in multimedia production, broadcasting, communications, film, or a related field
  • A minimum of four (4) years of full-time employment experience directly related to multimedia production, broadcasting, film, journalism, or digital media

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in multimedia production, film, communications, or related field
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Experience with industry-standard tools (Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, AVID, audio editing software, streaming platforms)
  • Experience in video production, broadcast journalism, content creation, or digital media production
  • 3 or more years of high school teaching experience in CTE
  • Experience working in an urban public school setting with high school students
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in another language in addition to English

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and implement a curriculum aligned to the MA Chapter 74 Multimedia Production & Broadcast frameworks.
  • Teach technical skills in video production, audio production, broadcasting, photography, and post-production editing.

  • Integrate digital literacy, employability skills, and entrepreneurship into instruction.
  • Assess and document student progress and provide regular feedback.
  • Maintain and update equipment, studio spaces, and instructional materials.
  • Collaborate with the CTE Director on curriculum development, scope and sequence, and program improvement.
  • Develop partnerships with industry professionals and serve as liaison to the Program Advisory Committee, and attend two meetings per year.
  • Create authentic opportunities for students, such as live broadcasts, streaming, and multimedia projects.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and certifications.
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and professional behavior.
  • Support student placement in internships, co-op, or postsecondary pathways.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe learning environment aligned with OSHA and industry safety standards.
  • Collaborate with school adjustment and guidance counselors to support students' social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Incorporate social-emotional learning standards and curriculum that promote a sense of belonging, inclusion, self-confidence, team-building, and informed decision-making.
  • Collaborate with special education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are consistently and adequately delivered.
  • Incorporate language activities that align with the WIDA Standards into content instruction, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, to meet the needs of multilingual learners.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal and Director of Career & Technical Education.

Salary:

 

Salary for this position will be based on the Everett Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. -SY 26-27 Pay Range - $65,178-$125,654.
