Overview


This position provides high-quality, professional instruction within Everett Community College's (EvCC) Information Technology Program. The primary focus of the associate faculty role is excellence in applied teaching and supporting student success.

Associate faculty are responsible for delivering hands-on instruction in areas such as networking, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and systems administration. This role is essential to the program's mission of equipping a diverse student body with the practical, workforce-ready skills needed to enter the IT field.

  • STEM 103: Introduction to Scripting (Python)
  • IT 180: Information Security
  • IT 203: Information and Cyber Warfare
  • IT 280: Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures

TITLE: Information Technology Associate Faculty

SALARY: $19,015/quarter at 100% course load*

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Applied Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing

  • Courses vary in credits/load. For example, one 5 credit lecture course would be 33.33% course load, or $6,338.42/quarter.

Duties & Responsibilities


Teaching
  • Foster an equitable, anti-racist, and culturally inclusive learning environment and demonstrate an awareness of the experiences and needs of the current student population
  • Develop curriculum, prepare, modify and deliver teaching/learning activities designed to maximize student learning and foster inclusive excellence.
  • Teach courses in accordance with the course record, course syllabus, approved student learning objectives, and quarterly course schedules. Design and/or deliver course assignments, learning activities and assessments that enable students to meet the course's stated learning outcomes.
  • Develop a current course syllabus using the College's inclusive syllabus template and submit it to the Instruction Office prior to the start of the quarter.
  • At the course level, assess student work using appropriate methodologies that promote further learning; at the department or program level; at the program or department level, disaggregate, review and assess student learning outcomes with the goal of continuous improvement and reduction of opportunity gaps.
  • Complete summative evaluations of student work during the College's scheduled finals week; submit final grades by the designated deadline.
  • Create and maintain department and student records in accordance with college policies and procedures.
  • Refer students to college services, community agencies and other professionals as appropriate.
  • Establish, post, and maintain regularly scheduled office hours for consultation with students.

Continuation of Professional Standards
  • Stay current in relevant best practices, emerging topics, and research.

Participation in College Matters
  • Complete annual trainings as required by state and federal law and the College as identified by the College. Associate Faculty will be compensated for trainings required by the College.
  • Maintain certification and/or licensure required by the College in the performance of the faculty member's assignment.

Optional Duties
  • By mutual agreement, compensation may be available for participation in the following:
    • Opening week activities, meetings and professional development opportunities.
    • Faculty forum.
    • Annual graduation ceremony in June.
    • Serving on committees.
    • Department, division and college meetings and be involved in department, division and college matters.
    • Maintain regular office hours for consultation with students.
    • Advise students in their course selections, programs, and pathways.

Reassigned Time
  • The leadership of the College has the right to assign faculty duties to faculty members.
  • Faculty may be assigned non-faculty duties including, but not limited to, administrative functions, leadership of college initiatives, or other specially assigned duties.

Qualifications


Required Education and Experience:
  • Associate Degree or equivalent certificate(s) in Information Technology or equivalent experience
  • One year of experience in a professional IT role

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Knowledge of networking concepts, including design, configuration, and troubleshooting
    • Proficiency in cloud computing platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
    • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, tools, and practices, including security frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls), threat analysis, and risk management
    • Familiarity with server administration (Windows and/or Linux), virtualization, and enterprise infrastructure support
  • Instructional Skills:
    • Ability to design, deliver, and assess learning experiences that prepare students for industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security , CCNA)
    • Skill in developing hands-on, project-based labs and experiential learning activities
    • Experience using technology to support instruction in hybrid, online, and in-person environments

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Teaching and curriculum development experience in a college setting
  • Continued industry engagement, such as conferences, workshops, and certifications
  • Knowledge of Industrial Control Systems
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Disaster Management
  • Knowledge of Identity and Access Management
