What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President, Venture Capital - New York position at Everet Marsh?
Join a leading venture capital platform with a strong track record of backing founders building category-defining companies. The firm is widely recognised for its conviction-led investment approach, deep sector expertise, and hands-on partnership with entrepreneurs from early growth through scale. Operating with a collaborative, founder-friendly culture, the organisation combines rigorous analysis, thematic specialisation, and a global perspective to source, back, and grow the next generation of market leaders on behalf of its partners and investors.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Vice President to join the New York Venture Capital team, taking a leadership role across the full investment lifecycle. This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced, commercially minded investor to lead deal execution, own sourcing relationships, and shape portfolio strategy. Working alongside Partners and Principals, you will drive the analytical and strategic backbone of new investments while serving as a key point of contact for founders across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead evaluation of new investment opportunities, overseeing financial analysis, market sizing, and returns modelling across early- and growth-stage deals.
- Own and manage due diligence processes end to end, including product, market, competitive, and technical assessments, while coordinating external advisors and workstreams.
- Drive origination by building and maintaining relationships with founders, operators, angels, and co-investors, and by developing conviction around emerging sectors and themes.
- Prepare and present investment committee materials, synthesising analysis into clear, well-supported recommendations and leading internal discussions.
- Support portfolio companies post-investment on strategy, hiring, follow-on financing, and key operational initiatives, often taking board or board-observer roles.
What We're Looking For
- 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, typically from venture capital, growth equity, investment banking, management consulting, or a high-growth operating/startup background.
- Strong analytical, financial modelling, and valuation capabilities, paired with sharp commercial judgement and pattern recognition.
- Demonstrated ability to lead deals and workstreams independently, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the credibility to engage founders, senior colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Degree educated in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Why Join?
- Take on a senior, high-ownership role at a highly regarded venture platform with a proven track record of backing winners.
- Direct exposure to leading live deals and shaping portfolio strategy, with a clear path toward Partner.
- Broad exposure to a wide range of sectors, stages, and business models at the frontier of innovation.
- Collaborative, founder-first culture that rewards conviction, initiative, and independent thinking.
- Highly competitive compensation, including meaningful carried interest, within a respected, high-performing organisation.
