Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience across various clinical settings, including critical care, emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, and outpatient services. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care, performing assessments, administering treatments, and ensuring adherence to healthcare standards such as HIPAA and NCQA. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is preferred. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in delivering quality care across diverse patient populations, including those with complex medical conditions such as infectious diseases, trauma, or developmental disabilities.
Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations
- Administer medications and injections accurately following aseptic techniques and medication protocols
- Perform advanced procedures such as IV infusion, catheterization, suturing, tube feeding, and ostomy care
- Manage airway and ventilator support for critically ill patients in ICU or trauma settings
- Document all patient interactions and treatments accurately in medical records adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Coordinate discharge planning and case management to ensure seamless transition of care
- Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and medical imaging procedures like sonography or mammography
- Provide specialized care for populations such as geriatrics in memory care or dementia units, pediatric patients in NICU or PICU, and hospice patients requiring palliative medicine
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems effectively for patient documentation and order entry
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in teaching hospitals or outpatient clinics to deliver comprehensive care
- Maintain infection control standards and sterile processing protocols during all procedures
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, ICU (Level I & II Trauma Centers), emergency room, post-acute care, outpatient clinics, or home & community care settings
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
- Skills in medication administration (including injections), IV insertion/infusion, phlebotomy/venipuncture, and specimen collection/processing
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as spinal taps or gastrostomy placements when required
- Experience working with specialized populations including those with developmental disabilities or requiring hospice & palliative care
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as ACLS preferred
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in acute care settings such as trauma centers or emergency departments
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
