Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Earthwork Estimator based in Gilberts, IL. The Earthwork Estimator will be responsible for analyzing plans and specifications, performing quantity take-offs, preparing cost estimates, and collaborating with project managers and clients to ensure accurate and competitive bids. Additional responsibilities include site visits, assessing project risks, and maintaining up-to-date costing databases.
Qualifications
- Proficiency with estimating software and tools relevant to the construction industry
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Experience in earthwork, excavation, and site utilities
- Understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and clients
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Experience in the commercial construction field is a plus
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to prepare accurate and competitive earthwork estimates.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using takeoff software for cut/fill, grading, trenching, and related activities.
- Utilize HCSS HeavyBid and other relevant tools to develop comprehensive cost estimates and bid proposals
- Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and subcontractors to gather cost data and scope details.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure complete coverage of project scope.
- Prepare bid packages and submit final proposals on time.
- Provide input on constructability, risk assessment, and value engineering.
- Stay updated with market trends, material pricing, and labor rates.
- Maintain well-organized estimate records and documentation for future reference and audits.
- Proficiency in HCSS (HeavyBid), HCSS (HeavyJob), and industry-standard takeoff software (e.g. Agtek)
- Advanced Excel skills and strong command of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
