The taproom features a 75-foot bar and indoor/outdoor seating, and hosts events such as Sunday brunch and yoga sessions in the space. In addition to the taproom, Ever Grain runs a small catering operation supporting private events and their food program.
Position Summary
As Assistant General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting front-of-house operations, focusing on hosts, servers, food runners, beertenders, bartenders, and catering staff. You will work alongside the General Manager to ensure excellent guest experiences, smooth service flow, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing the day-to-day front-of-house staff including hosts, servers, food runners, beertenders, and bartenders.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to front-of-house team members to maintain high standards of service and guest satisfaction.
- Manage shift scheduling in collaboration with the General Manager to ensure adequate staffing levels during taproom hours, food service, and catering events.
- Monitor service flow during busy periods in the taproom and during catered events, intervening as needed to maintain efficiency, quality, and guest experience.
- Work closely with the servers to coordinate staffing, food and beverage service, timing, set-up and breakdown for off-site and on-site events.
- Act as a point of contact for guests and clients during catered events, ensuring service expectations are met and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor during service hours, assisting staff, greeting guests, handling seating/host responsibilities, and stepping in as needed to ensure smooth operations.
- Support inventory and ordering of front-of-house supplies (glassware, bar supplies, food-runner supplies, service items) in coordination with the General Manager.
- Ensure front-of-house areas (taproom seating, bar, hostess station, catering staging area) are clean, organized, and meet health and safety standards.
- Uphold the mission, values and hospitality culture of Ever Grain Brewing Company in all guest interactions and team communications.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the hospitality industry with supervisory or leadership responsibilities in a bar/restaurant or brewery setting.
- Previous experience working in a bar environment (bartending or beertending) is a plus.
- Experience in catering or event service operations is highly desirable.
- Excellent guest service skills with the ability to interact professionally and warmly with patrons, clients and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with varying service flows (taproom, kitchen, event catering).
- Leadership presence on the floor including training/coaching staff, managing team performance, and stepping into operational roles as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work with diverse teams and build strong relationships.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and during special events, including off-site catering functions.
- Knowledge of craft beverage hospitality and a passion for creating welcoming guest experiences.
- Familiarity with Toast POS systems, and basic front-of-house operations.
- A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
