Maintenance Purchaser and Scheduler

Department: Maintenance

Status: Non-exempt

Employee Classification: Regular Full-time

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 4:30pm

Job Summary: The Maintenance Purchaser and Scheduler will be responsible for preparing Work orders and Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules, preparing parts, printing Work Order’s (WO), ordering parts, prioritizing work around downtime and level of urgency. They will also be responsible for maintaining our consumable inventory as well as our critical spare inventory and act as liaison between maintenance and purchasing. This person will need to participate in performing PM’s and WO’s to be familiar with the workings of the factory and will be responsible for updating the PM list and adding new PMs for new equipment. This person should be familiar with a maintenance shop environment, associated parts and safe conduct.

Essential Functions:

• Work safely and promote a safe work environment.
• Adhere to all company policies, GMPs, and SOPs.
• Proficient with computer applications including but not limited to Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Familiar with basic maintenance parts such as bearings, chain, sprockets, motors, gearboxes etc.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with coworkers, supervisors and department managers required.
• Effective communication with vendors and contractors.
• Schedule maintenance contractors and be available for them upon arrival.
• Capable of sourcing parts, including research, ordering and distribution.
• Effective communication with vendors and contractors.

• Ability to multitask and switch priorities with limited notice.
• Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor to schedule and develop routine and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Operate a forklift, boom lift, scissor lift and other material handling equipment (will train on site).
• Capable of sourcing parts, including research, ordering and distribution.
• Assign work orders as needed, and stage materials needed for work orders.
• Detail oriented and organized. Responsible for creating, modifying and maintaining an accurate inventory control system.
  
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• High School Diploma or GED required. Some college coursework is preferred.
• 2 years administrative experience.
• Experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Bilingual is a plus not required (English/Spanish).
• Problem solving and diagnosis skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Self-starter, ability to work alone.
• Availability and willingness to work flexible job hours as needed.
• Able to work cross departmentally.

• Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.
• Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment.
• Worker may be exposed to hazards in the workplace such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts and electrical current.
• Must be able to work in an environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.).
• Must be able to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time.
• Occasionally required to use hands and fingers.

• Frequently required to lift / push / pull / carry weight up to 50 lbs.
