What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swim Team Coach position at EVELYN RUBENSTEIN JEWISH COMMUNITY CENTER OF HOUSTON TEXAS?
The J Assistant Swim Team Coach is a leadership position for the youth swim team. This position will work closely with the Director of Aquatics to build, grow, and lead the swim team. The Head Swim Team Coach will lead practices and competitions. They will also communicate to all team members and families to inform and motivate the team. Recruiting and retention will be key priorities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ADMINISTRATION
- Assists the Head Swim Team Coach with preparing and organizing team workouts.
- Assists the Head Swim Team Coach with leading team practices by providing instruction, feedback, and motivation to swimmers.
- Builds positive and professional relationships with team members and families while supporting the Head Swim Team Coach.
- Assists with tracking swimmer performance, attendance, and times as directed by the Head Swim Team Coach.
- Assists with swim meet preparation, including entries, event information, equipment, and team logistics as directed by the Head Swim Team Coach.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
COMMUNICATION
- Assists with routine communication to swim team families regarding upcoming practices, meets, events, and other team information as directed.
- Provides the Head Swim Team Coach with observations and updates regarding swimmer progress, attendance, and performance.
- Assists with recruiting and retention efforts to encourage new and returning participants to the swim team.
AGENCY EXPECTATIONS
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Maintain all required certifications for the position.
- Maintain all required certifications for the position and promptly notify the Head Swim Team Coach or Director of Aquatics of any certification updates or needs.
- Participate in agency-wide in-service training programs.
- Participate in agency-wide Open House/Program Registration days as required.
Qualifications:
- Previous youth swim team coaching or competitive swimming experience preferred.
- Excellent skills using MS Word, Excel, Access, and Internet Explorer.
- Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
