Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and timely.
- Maintain and update employee records within HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and payroll systems to ensure data integrity.
- Ensure compliance with employment and labor laws by staying current on legal requirements related to payroll tax, wage laws, benefits administration, and recordkeeping standards.
- Reconcile payroll accounts through detailed analysis of spreadsheets, general ledger accounts, journal entries, and account reconciliation procedures.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while managing payroll processing tasks including tax calculations, deductions, benefits administration, and time & attendance systems.
- Support benefits administration activities such as enrollments, changes, and inquiries while assisting with non-profit accounting practices when applicable.
- Collaborate with finance teams on general ledger accounting tasks involving debits & credits, journal entries, and financial software integration.
- Assist in audits related to payroll tax filings and labor law compliance by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
- Enter data accurately into multiple systems while maintaining high standards of data entry quality for payroll management.
- Provide support for technical accounting functions related to payroll processing and financial concepts relevant to the organization’s operations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Paychex or similar platforms supported by technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of employment & labor law regulations including payroll tax compliance and wage & hour laws.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems like UltiPro, PeopleSoft or Kronos for employee data management.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel), accounting software, general ledger reconciliation, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries and analysis skills.
- Experience handling confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to perform detailed data entry tasks such as 10-key typing with accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Understanding of benefits administration processes along with non-profit accounting practices is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills combined with strong communication abilities to collaborate across departments effectively.
