Vision Educator - Long Term Substitute

The job of Teacher Of Students Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired (Itinerant) is done for the purpose/s of providing specialized instruction and services to meet the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and materials of students using Braille, large print and technological devices. Teachers will provide input regarding the planning of instructional goals, benchmarks/objectives, and methods regarding students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Teachers of the Visually Impaired will conduct functional vision/learning media assessments and provide interpretations of assessments on the impact of students' learning. An educator licensed in this field may also provide staff development and serve in the role of mentor, advisor, and advocate for the students and families for whom they serve.

Requirements

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement for a Teacher of Students
  
  

Who Are Blind and Visually Impaired

• Licensure in Orientation and Mobility preferred
• Collaborate effectively with students, parents, and other professional staff
• Ability to travel between school sites
• Experience working as part of a team
• Experience working with children with multiple impairments
• Experience with school age children.
  
  

Compensation And Benefits (2026-2027 School Year)

Minimum starting salary with Bachelors degree:

$51.81/hour (includes District paid TRS pension) - pro-rated to start date

Minimum Starting Salary With Masters Degree

$56.47/hour (includes District paid TRS pension) - pro-rated to start date
