Part-time Kitchen Assistant for Early Childhood Facility
Job summary:
Join our dedicated team in creating a nurturing and healthy environment for young children. We’re seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Dishwasher/Kitchen Assistant to support our meal preparation and kitchen operations. This role plays a vital part in ensuring children receive nutritious, delicious meals in a clean and safe setting. You’ll collaborate with staff and families to meet dietary needs while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and workstations
- Collect used dishes from classrooms
- Assist in delivering meals and snack to classrooms as needed
- Assist in preparing breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks following approved menus and recipes
- Ensure proper food storage and handling to prevent spoilage and contamination
- Communicate with staff and families regarding food allergies, intolerances, and special dietary needs
- Participate in required trainings and team meetings
Job preferred requirements and qualifications:
- Experience in a kitchen assistant or dishwasher role, ideally within a childcare or early education setting
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Familiarity with nutrition and food safety standards for young children
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food handler certification (or willingness to obtain)
