A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CONVENIENCE STORE ASSISTANT MANAGER

The Assistant Manager supervises daily operations to ensure that food safety, product preparation, and cleanliness standards are maintained. The Assistant Manager assists with cash and inventory controls, schedules and supervises staff, and maintains standards of store safety and security. Exceptional customer service is a major component of this position.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Customer Service Rockstar – Ensures that excellent customer service is provided
- Extraordinary Emphasizer - Ensures company policy is followed by all employees
- Training Guru - Trains co-workers to be proficient in all aspects of positions
- Troubleshooting Master - Troubleshoots POS systems and multi-tasks
- Duty Designator - Assigns and participates in completion of shift duties
- Managing Up - Helps to manage staff and elevate them for progression and growth
- Cleaning Coordinator - Coordinates and supervises staff so that standards of cleanliness are maintained
- Safety Officer - Supervises food preparation to ensure that food safety and operational standards are maintained
- Paperwork Precision - Performs paperwork duties as needed carefully and accurately
There is always something to do. However, customer service is always your number one priority! You assist patrons with purchases as a cashier and make sure that they have what they need. You perform your duties in compliance with laws and regulations. You also clean, stock, prepare coffee, troubleshoot, maintain food safety and sanitation, as well as anything else that needs to be done. You like to stay busy. And, you love that you able to meet lots of new people every day, as well as visit with old friends.
PREREQUISITES:
Education: High School graduate - Some college preferred but not required.
Experience & Skills: Experience in retail operations or closely related field, preferably with supervisory experience. Excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with all levels of employees. Possesses a strong work ethic and is highly dependable. Computer proficiency is desirable.
Physical: Must be able to work any area of the store when needed and to operate a computerized Point of Sale system/cash register. Position requires bending, standing, and walking the entire workday. Must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
